By Benjamin Flowers: Police are looking for Fernando Avila, 19, who is suspected to be involved in a string of robberies and piracy on the sea in Belizean waters after he escaped custody earlier this week.
Avila was one of six Belizeans who were arrested in Puerto Cortes, Honduras on charges of drug trafficking, and the theft of six boat engines that were suspected to be used for the purpose of drug trafficking.
The men were turned over to Belizean authorities on Tuesday when Avila managed to escape from the Dangriga Police Station.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 922 or the nearest police station.
