Fire in Corozal leaves 28 people homeless

By Benjamin Flowers: A fire in the Corozal district early this morning has left 28 people homeless.

Rosita Gilharry, 57, told police that she was awakened just after 12:00 a.m. by family members who alerted her of the fire.

A total of four wooden houses in the yard were all completely engulfed in flames by the time authorities arrived.

All four structures were completely destroyed; however, the value of the homes and their contents has yet to be determined.

The Belize National Fire Service is investigating the cause of the fire. Police are also conducting an investigation.
