Hyde family of Roaring Creek grieving after father killed, daughter injured in family gathering

Posted: Sunday, April 4, 2021. 11:02 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: 41-year-old Clifford Hyde of Roaring Creek village, Cayo District, was shot to death Saturday afternoon while attending a family gathering in Camalote, Cayo District, while his daughter Anya Galvez, 18, is in critical condition in hospital. Two persons have been detained in connection with the incident.

Hyde and Galvez along with other family members and friends were at the residence of 28-year-old Russell Hyde, Jr., after four in the afternoon. He, Galvez and others were about to leave and were walking toward a gold Jeep. Upon reaching the vehicle and getting inside, the driver found that it could not start and so the group exited to check the vehicle.

At the same time, a Black 4 door car arrived in front of the sliding gate and a brown-skinned man wearing his dark hair in twists and black clothing got out, approached Hyde and the driver Jaheim Lopez and opened fire on them, fatally injuring Hyde and injuring Galvez. Lopez and other companions fled back toward the house for cover while the gunman reboarded his vehicle and fled toward the Valley of Peace Road.

Clifford Hyde was shot as many as eight times while Galvez was hit to the side of the head. She was transported to the Western Regional Hospital by Russel Hyde, where she was further transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a critical condition.

Police continue their investigations and have detained two persons for questioning.
