By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Latina America and the Caribbean combined have now reported 800,099 deaths out of a total of 25,356,063 COVID-19 cumulative cases.
By itself, Brazil which is being ravaged by the pandemic, has a total death tally of 332, 752 out of a total of 13,601,000 accumulated cases.
As a region, Latin America and the Caribbean are behind Europe which has reported 974,305 deaths, but ahead of the United States and Canada that together have had 578,690 deaths so far.
During the last week up to April 5, 27,132 COVID-19 cases were reported in the region, similar to the previous week. Plus, more than 800,000 new cases were reported.
