Cabinet receives update on union consultations, COVID-19 vaccines and house meeting

By Zoila Palma: According to a press release from the Government of Belize, Cabinet met on Tuesday, April 6th  2021, and received the latest update from the cabinet team that held discussions with the joint unions concerning the fiscal adjustment efforts. Based on a recorded statement from Prime Minister John Briceno, is convinced, and intends to implement the salary adjustment, while the unions disagree that the adjustment is necessary, and is now calling for industrial action.

Cabinet also received an update from the Ministry of Health and Wellness that shared that over 23,000 Belizeans have received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

As the House of Representatives is scheduled to meet this Friday for the Budget presentation for the fiscal year 2021-2022, Cabinet also gave its approval for a number of bills which will be presented at the House sitting.
