Canada’s Health Minister says it is not time for travel

Posted: Thursday, April 8, 2021. 1:16 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma: Canada’s Health Minister Patty Hajdu said that it is not the time to travel internationally as the country enters the third COVID-19 wave.

The country’s travel restrictions are set to expire on April 21, CIC News reports.

Hajdu said that the country is monitoring different metrics including domestic spread, territories’ capacities to manage cases in their own jurisdiction, as well as the situation internationally.

Hajdu reminded that Canada is facing a third wave of the virus and the Ministry is also looking at countries implementing vaccine passports.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that the government is listening to health experts to find out what measures are appropriate for those people who are vaccinated.

Meanwhile, travel restrictions remain effective in Canada.
