By Zoila Palma: Ride-sharing giant Uber announced that it will be available in Jamaica soon.

The Uber app connects travelers that want to move around at a destination with someone who is ready to lease their vehicle and drive.

Uber is currently available in over 10,000 cities in 69 countries across six continents.

The company conducts over 15 billion trips and every day 12 million trips are made using the Uber app.

The Loop reports that Jamaicans can sign up on the app to become Uber drivers and earn money.

Those wishing to apply should be over 21 years, own a vehicle model year 2010 or newer; present key documents such as valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and vehicle insurance.

In addition, Uber said that its app has several key safety features that will be available in Jamaica from day one beginning with the very first trip.
