By Zoila Palma: The Belize National Teacher’s Union (BNTU) hosted its 51st annual convention on April 7 and 8, 2021 where Senator Elena Smith was endorsed as union President.

The convention was held under the theme “BNTU: Persevering Despite the Challenges, Overcoming for future realities.”

Senator Smith was endorsed as President and Ruth Shoman as National Secretary.

The newly elected officers are 1st Vice President, Jorge Mejia and National Treasurer Keisha Williams.

“We congratulate this dynamic team that will lead the BNTU for the next 2 years,” a statement from the union said.
