U.S. Embassy Charge D’ Affaires: ‘No definitive date for resumption of new visa applicant interviews’

By Benjamin Flowers: The United States Embassy in Belmopan still does not have a definitive date set to resume interviews for new visa applications, according to Charge D’ Affaires, Keith Gilges.

Gilges explained today that those who go through the application process are currently being issued potential interview dates in June or July, 2021.

“That doesn’t mean you are definitely doing your interview in either June or July,” Gilges said.

He noted that the Embassy had originally opened windows for interviews in February, but was unable to conduct them due to the ongoing pandemic.

Gilges also said that the Embassy has rolled out a program for visa renewals, in which those with a visa that expired within the last four years can apply to have the visa renewed provided that it is the same type of visa. Those qualified for the renewal will not be required to go into the Embassy for an interview. That program was officially launched last month.
