Robbery at Maria’s Store in Cristo Rey, Cayo

By Zoila Palma: Today, the Cristo Rey Village Council thanked the members of the neighborhood watch for their quick response during a robbery in the community last night.

Neighbors were informed of the robbery at Maria’s Store in the village and quickly began searching for the suspect.

While he escaped on foot, neighbors held his motorbike, his helmet, and a knife.

Police officers responded to the scene and retrieved the items.

The Village Council is hoping that the items will lead to the arrest of the culprit.

“We won’t tolerate no one to come and do as they please into our village and just stand and look. we are committed to protecting our village. I make an urgent call to the police department to assist on more frequent patrol into the village as we have seen an increase of unknown individuals in motorbikes without license plates in and around the village,” a statement from the council said.
