Global COVID-19 deaths nearing 3 million

By Benjamin Flowers: As the second year of the global COVID-19 pandemic rolls on, the number of people that have lost their lives globally to the virus is steadily approaching 3 million.

Worldometer reports that as of 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2021, the total number of reported deaths, stood at 2,941,622.

The United States maintains the highest number of deaths in the world, with 575,606, with Brazil recording the second-highest number of deaths at 351,469.

Mexico recently announced that it had under-reported the number of deaths by around 100,000, putting the country at the third-highest number of deaths with over 307,000.

Belize has lost a total of 318 people to the virus.

Meanwhile, out of more than 136.1 million confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide, over 109.5 million people have managed to recover from infection.
