By Ruben Morales Iglesias: One of my sisters sent me this Facebook post by “Community Animal Rescue – Belize City” earlier today and I thought it’d be good to share because the reality is that it’s been very hot lately, going over 100°F inland, and sometimes we don’t think about our four-footed friends.
The post was uploaded by Cindy L. Blanco and is accompanied by a Heat Stroke flyer that says, verbatim:
“If it’s too hot for you, it’s way too hot for your pets!!
Prevent a heat stroke by:
Keeping pets in shaded and cool areas
Have fresh water readily available at all times
Avoid walking your pets on asphalt or during sun peak times
Never leave them inside cars
Allow them to dig holes – the soil keeps them cool
Don’t over trim their fur – fur protects the skin from direct sunlight.”
