Ministry of Infrastructure Development denies new vehicles for top brass

By Aaron Humes: Minister of Infrastructure Development and Housing, Julius Espat, informs that he is not, contrary to reports, being provided with new luxury vehicles for himself and his CEOs.

A social media page, previously known only for posting harmless snapshots, posted two photo series alleging that Espat and Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat are obtaining such vehicles from the money saved by cutting salaries for teachers and public officers.

The Minister confirms he has decided to utilize his personal vehicle for work, as have both his CEOs for Infrastructure Development and Housing. The Minister of Health has not publicly commented.

The issue is a touchy one as some feel Ministers should be living by example and more like paupers compared with the rest of the population during the pandemic-induced financial crisis.

For its part, the Ministry says, “We regret that political players have seen fit to spout fake news rather than focus on the unprecedented work being done by the MidH team.”
