By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Porto have only themselves to blame for only coming up with a 1-0 win over Chelsea in Sevilla, Spain in the return leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Chelsea came into today’s ball game with a comfortable 2-0 lead picked up last week at the same venue, but the English-side found a very combative Porto side.
Porto had the breaks but were not clinical, with the exception of a superb bicycle kick goal by Mehdi Taremi off a cross by Nanu in the fourth minute of injury time with the clock expiring on them.
Still, it was a very entertaining game with the Portuguese side pushing ahead, but Chelsea were in the driver’s seat with N’Golo Kante manning the midfield.
In the end, however, the 2-1 aggregate favoured Chelsea and off they are into the semifinal round. This is the first time since 2014 that they’ve reached this far but they certainly will find it more difficult with either Real Madrid or Liverpool as their opponents in the semifinals.
