Minister of Blue Economy, Taiwan Ambassador discuss expansion of fishing industry

By Zoila Palma: On Monday, Andre Perez, Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, and Kennedy Carrillo, CEO in the Ministry, met David K.C. Chien, the newly appointed ambassador of Taiwan to Belize.

Discussions included opportunities for collaboration in areas such as deep-sea fishing and expansion of Belize’s fishing industry, value-added food processing, and greater efforts in the preservation of Belize’s marine and coastal resources.

Perez shared the accomplishments of the Blue Economy portfolio thus far and the process of strategic planning taking place simultaneously for Blue Economy and Civil Aviation.

Ambassador Chien expressed Taiwan’s continuous commitment to maintaining an excellent relationship with the country and people of Belize.
