US Coast Guard continues search for 12 missing persons after boat capsizes off Lousiana coast

Posted: Wednesday, April 14, 2021. 8:58 am CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The United States Coast Guard is this morning still searching for 12 people who were on a boat that capsized yesterday afternoon off the coast of Louisiana.

WAFB 9 News from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, reported that six persons aboard the 129-foot boat were rescued yesterday but that 12 others were still missing Wednesday morning.

The Coast Guard rescued two persons and private boaters rescued four others on Tuesday.

WAFB reported that commercial boat Seacor Power left Port Fourchon at about midday on Tuesday and by 4:30 p.m. sent distress signals. The US Coast Guard said the Seacor Power is a “lift boat” which is normally used to take workers to oil rigs and platforms.

The Coast Guard said they had received reports of ‘multiple vessels hit’ during a storm which had gusts of 75 mph.

WAFB reported this morning that the US Coast Guard was asking all marine operators in the area to help in the search for the 12 missing workers.
