By Rubén Morales Iglesias: CNN reports that consistent activity is strongly associated with the reduced risk of severe COVID-19.

The Kaiser Permanente study that was published by the British Journal of Sports medicine followed approximately 50,000 adults infected by COVID-19.

The study, according to CNN, concluded that those persons who did a least 2½ hours of moderate to vigorous physical activity per week were less prone to being hospitalized, admitted to intensive care, or dying.

Some of the risk factors of suffering severe COVID-19 are being older and having underlying comorbidities, such as diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. It’s understandable then, why physical activity would reduce the possibility of people not being so affected by COVID-19.

The idea would be to have a least 22 minutes of physical activity every day.

Dana Santas, the strength and conditioning specialist and mind-body coach who wrote the CNN article, makes five recommendations for people to achieve the 22 minutes of daily exercise

First, Santas recommends that people take regular walks. The second recommendation is to exercise in short blocks of time throughout the day. The third is to work out smarter, not longer, including interval training sessions with body-weight exercise.

The fourth recommendation is to return to playing sports or fun games with friends and family.

Her final recommendation is to track your activity. A lot of people are already doing that using their phones and/or watches.
