By Benjamin Flowers: There have been 82 reported cases of COVID-19 for the first two weeks of April, according to data accumulated from the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW).

Belize closed the month of March with a total of 12,456 reported cases, and the last report from the MOHW, published on April 16, showed that reported cases stood at 12,538.

There are 67 active cases and another 180 cases under investigation.

The country has also seen a total of 53 patients recovered from infection at mid-month.

Only one patient has died from COVID-19 for the month thus far.

In a recent interview, Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa said that the government hopes activities done over the Easter Holiday will not cause a spike in new cases. Any new cases resulting from those activities become detectable in the coming weeks.
