By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Guadaloupe has withdrawn from the 2021 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship (CBSC) according to Concacaf.
Belize will now only have to play against Mexico and Panama in the regional tournament to be played in Alajuela, Costa Rica from May 17-23.
The tournament qualifies the two Concacaf representatives to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Moscow Russia from August 19-29, 2021.
Belize will play in Group A against Mexico on Monday, May 17, and Panama on Tuesday, May 18.
With Guadaloupe’s withdrawal, 11 of Concacaf’s 12 member associations will compete in the tournament.
The groups are now as follows:
Group A: Mexico, Panama, and Belize
Group B: El Salvador, Bahamas, Guatemala, and Dominican Republic
Group C: United States, Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Turks and Caicos Islands
Concacaf said the entire tournament will be played at the Complejo Deportivo FEDEFUTBOL Plycem, in Alajuela.
After the group stage round-robin, the top two in each group and the two best third-place finishers advance to the knockout stage.
The knockout stage will feature the quarterfinal matches on May 21 and the semifinals on May 22. The final is set for May 23.
The champions and sub-champions qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Russia 2021. Sixteen FIFA Member Associations will compete in the World Cup.
