Argentina receives 2nd batch of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from COVAX

By Zoila Palma: On Sunday, Argentina received a second batch of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines with 864,000 doses from COVAX.

The country had already received 218,000 doses in March through the World Health Organization’s (WHO) COVAX facility.

According to the Buenos Aires Times, about 800,000 people have already received their full dose of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, the country faces a surge in COVID-19 cases in a second wave.

The occupancy in intensive care units have reached 64% countrywide.

The COVID-19 death toll is at 59,164 in Argentina.

New restrictions were imposed by Government including a curfew in response to the increase in COVID-19 infections recently.
