By Aaron Humes: Minister for Human Development, Families and Indigenous Peoples Affairs, Dolores Balderamos Garcia, committed to at least a continuation of some relief programs with less funds.
Her focus, Garcia said, will be on reform of key institutions especially for women. She quoted Emperor Haile Selassie’s statement to the United Nations on race, memorably quoted in Bob Marley’s song “War,” but amended to say that one gender, male, cannot be held superior to the other, female.
Indigenous peoples will also make a comeback as the Government turns its attention to fulfilling the consent order by the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).
