Government to review lease agreement signed by ‘Clear the Land’ just before general elections

By Zoila Palma: At Cabinet’s meeting held on April 20, 2021, Cabinet requested that Minister of Public Utilities, Energy and Logistics review a lease agreement signed by Former Area Representative for Belize Rural North, Edmond Castro.

Castro, the former minister responsible for ports signed a lease agreement with Recological Systems Limited for 25 years.

The contract was reportedly signed only 2 days before the November 2020 general elections.

The agreement was signed on November 9, after the House of Representatives had been dissolved.
