Rodwell Ferguson: Transportation “to be transformed”

Posted: Thursday, April 22, 2021. 4:03 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Minister of Public Utilities and Logistics, Rodwell Ferguson, has promised no less than a “transformation” of the public transport industry.

At present, an average of 20 people per bus or just under 5,000 travel daily in poor conditions, he said, and the Ministry which includes transport will embark on a formal system of ticketing and inspection to ensure that consumers will not be unnecessarily endangered on the roads.

Ferguson also promised to find harmony among the competing cruise ports being built in the Belize District – Stake Bank, Port Loyola and Port of Magical Belize – to help tourism and employment.

The Stann Creek West area representative vowed to stand with the Prime Minister “to save Belize,” and called on opponents not to be selfish and to choose for themselves what is most important. The Government, he promised, would come through for those who need it, red or blue.
