By Aaron Humes: Minister for Sports, Youth and E-Governance, and member of the House for Orange Walk East, Kevin Bernard, has announced plans to return sports to training and competition in another year.
In the House this afternoon, Bernard announced that from May 1, non-contact sports such as tennis, golf and table tennis may resume normal activities while contact sports such as football, basketball and cycling may resume training. He estimates a return to full contact competition by next year, although several sports including football have international competitions this year.
Bernard also announced the construction of three regional youth training centers in Belmopan and on the George Price Highway and Philip Goldson Highway.
