By Zoila Palma: The United States of America has listed over 115 countries on its list of ‘do not travel’ advisories, citing risks from COVID-19.
Due to the increase of COVID-19 cases, the US continues to monitor the situation and warns its citizens to not travel to 150 destinations.
In Central America, all countries are listed except for El Salvador and Belize.
El Salvador is found in category 3 “Reconsider the trip”.
The US urges citizens to reconsider their trip due to COVID-19 and “to exercise greater caution in El Salvador due to crime.”
The country reported 154 new cases on Thursday and 3 COVID-19 associated deaths.
Meanwhile, Belize appears in Category 2, “Exercise greater caution” and indicates that there is a moderate presence of COVID-19 cases.
On Thursday, Belize registered 11 new cases and 2 COVID-19 related deaths.
There are now 102 active cases of COVID-19 in Belize.
