By Zoila Palma: Earth Day was observed on April 22, 2021. It was observed under the theme “Restore our Earth”.
Around the country, environmental groups engaged in tree-planting and community clean-up activities to bring awareness to the importance of re-forestation.
The Corozal Town Council, Department of Youth Services, Three Lagoons Sustainability Program, OCEANA, and the Rotaract Club joined efforts and planted coconut trees and mangroves at the Mangrove Park and key areas of Corozal bay.
The council says that the initiative was to bring awareness on the importance of the preservation of our natural resource and the eco-approach to beautification.
“We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all those involved for taking time to give back to our community by participating and contributing to this event. Together, let’s protect our environment for future generations to enjoy,” the council said.
