By Zoila Palma: On Wednesday, Juan Carlos Sikaffy, President of the Honduras Private Business council said that it will try to acquire about 1.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to assist in nationwide vaccination efforts.
Sikaffy said that the Government has agreed to the plan which would provide vaccines free of cost to recipients, the Associated Press reports.
Sikaffy said that he believes the group is the only private business group in Latin America seeking to identify and import vaccines.
“I think we should take up this unavoidable role to rescue the country’s economy,” he added.
To date, the nation has only received 52,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
