Security Guard murdered in Santa Elena last night

By Zoila Palma: Authorities are investigating the murder of a security guard that occurred in Santa Elena last night.

According to police reports, just before 11 pm, they responded to a 911 call at Cayo One-Stop Hardware on George Price Highway in Santa Elena.

There, they saw security guard, Lionel Olivera suffering from 1 gunshot injury to his shoulder.

Olivera told police that he was working when 2 men approached him, one of the men pulled out a firearm and pointed it at him. The other culprit shot him to the shoulder. Both thieves then escaped with the security company’s 9mm Smith and Wesson gun.

Olivera was taken to the San Ignacio Community hospital where he died shortly after.

Authorities are investigating.
