Murder rocks Punta Gorda Town again

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating an unexpected murder on Saturday night just outside Punta Gorda Town, Toledo District.

49-year-old Dwayne Myers was discovered in his Toyota Camry with gunshot wounds around 8:10 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Front Street and Main Middle Street at the Dollar sign entering Punta Gorda Town, facing towards the UNO gas station parked in front of a bus stop on the seaside.

Police rushed him to the Punta Gorda Hospital and while undergoing treatment, he succumbed to his injuries.

A few minutes earlier, the Camry had come from the direction of Joe Taylor Bridge and was waiting at the stop when two men on a motorcycle came from behind the car and opened fire on Myers.

Police investigations continue.
