By Aaron Humes: Prime Minister John Briceno opened his televised weekly message by highlighting the “respect” his Government has for public officers, even as they commence industrial action over his proposed salary cut and increment freeze.
The P.M. highlighted advances in agriculture and tourism, citing that Belize is in a position to be one of the few countries deemed safe for travel.
That, of course, depends on controlling the COVID-19 epidemic, with numbers of new cases and deaths creeping up after reaching recent lows. The Prime Minister reminded Belizeans to be vigilant and wash hands, stay distant and wear masks.
He also continued to encourage vaccinations saying this is the foundation for Belize’s economic and social recovery.
