Posted: Tuesday, April 27, 2021. 2:28 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma: Indian authorities said that the COVID-19 infections rose by 346,786 overnight on Saturday, CNBC reports.

The high increase in the number of infections has hit a new world record for the 3rd consecutive day.

Hospitals have reached their maximum capacity and are now seeking oxygen supplies to cope.

The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to hit the country hard with a rate of 1 death every 4 minutes in Delhi.

Local media showed how the Government has deployed military planes and trains to get oxygen for the hospitals.

Some hospitals have informed that they do not have any medical oxygen.

The country is now the global epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic with deaths rising to 2,624 in 1 day alone.

Health experts said that the nation had become complacent and lifted some restrictions that allowed for the resumption of big gatherings.
