Global COVID-19 infections over 150 million

By Benjamin Flowers: As the second year of the COVID-19 continues, the number of global infections has surpassed 150 million.

Worldometer reports that the global total for reported cases stands at 150,379,130.

There are currently over 19.28 million active cases, with 110,746 (0.6 percent) listed as serious/critical cases.

The total number of recoveries from the virus now stands at 127,925,245, which represents a recovery rate of 98 percent of all closed cases.

Notably, 2 percent of closed cases (3,167,228) have died from COVID-19.

The United States remains the hardest-hit country in the world by the pandemic both by the number of cases recorded (over 32.9 million) and by the number of deaths (588,341) deaths.

India now the second-hardest-hit country by the number of cases, has recorded over 18.37 million cases and 204,832 deaths.

Brazil, the third-hardest-hit country by the number of cases still has the second-highest death toll. Brazil has recorded over 14.52 million cases and 398,343 deaths.
