Government hopes to vaccinate 70% of the population by September

By Zoila Palma: The COVID-19 vaccination campaign continues across Belize.

To date, 42,100 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country.

At Cabinet’s meeting on Tuesday, Minister of Health and Wellness, Michel Chebat briefed Cabinet on the vaccination campaign.

Cabinet agreed that the ongoing campaign is in line with the Government’s plan to ensure that 70% of Belizeans who wish to be vaccinated are vaccinated by September.

In an interview with the media on Wednesday, Prime Minister John Briceno said that the COVID-19 response is a priority and he also encouraged teachers to get vaccinated.

The Ministry of Education’s plan is for all schools to re-open in September.
