United Democratic Party to discuss Nature Conservancy arrangement at press briefing

By Aaron Humes: The United Democratic Party has called an urgent, in-person press conference at its party headquarters in Belize City on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.

Its purpose is to discuss the contract reportedly signed by Minister of Natural Resources and Deputy Prime Minister (as he then was) Hugo Patt, during the interregnum of the National Assembly.

The ruling Peoples United Party has accused the UDP and Patt of allowing the foregoing of payments in land and speculation tax and stamp duty worth hundreds of millions of dollars by the now-owner-managers of the 266 thousand acre property in Orange Walk District at a time the country needed money.
