By Rubén Morales Iglesias: National Sports Council (NSC) facilities reopen today, Monday, May 3, said a release by the NSC issued late Friday.
The NSC release said that as announced by Minister of Sports Kevin Bernard “sports will return to play (under some conditions) as of May 1st, 2021.”
Two weeks ago, Minister of Sports Kevin Bernard announced that non-contact sports like athletics would be allowed to restart after more than a year sports lockdown. Athletes of contact sports will only be allowed training sessions.
In that light, the NSC said that its facilities “will now be open to the public as of May 3rd, 2021.”
The NSC facilities include football stadiums, sports complexes and civic centers in the cities and towns in the country. These facilities include the Marion Jones Sporting Complex, Roger’s Stadium, the MCC Grounds, the Santiago Ricalde Stadium, Andres Campos Civic Center, the People’s Stadium, the Norman Broaster Stadium, the Victor Galvez Stadium, the Santa Elena Sporting Complex, the Carl Ramos Stadium, and the Victor Sanchez Stadium.
“The NSC has set protocols for usage of facilities and all district personnel will ensure that the public adheres,” said the release. ”Please contact your respective district Sports Council to book facility.”
