BREAKING NEWS: Joint Unions in “negotiation mode” with Government

Posted: Wednesday, May 5, 2021. 12:50 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: While he could not offer details, President of the Public Service Union (PSU), Gerald Henry, did confirm that another meeting with the Government team of Cordel Hyde, Francis Fonseca, and Henry Charles Usher was set for tomorrow, Thursday.

According to Henry, the joint unions – his Public Service Union (PSU), the Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU), and Association of Public Service Senior Managers (APSSM) – are now in “negotiating mode” with Government as opposed to the “consultations” Belmopan had been doing prior to the passing of the Budget last week.

In the meantime, the PSU strike continues in its second day with union members distributing information sheets to residents, while staying away from their jobs.

More on this later.
