By BBN Staff: Today, members of the United Democratic Party (UDP) held a meeting at the San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council.
Former area representatives, Pablo Marin, Gaspar Vega, John Saldivar, and Edmund Castro joined by other members of the UDP met and extended their support for Mayor of San Ignacio and Santa Elena, Earl Trapp.
In March, the residents of San Ignacio and Santa Elena elected Mayor Trapp, 1 UDP Councillor, and 5 PUP councilors. The mixed slate made history in the Twin Towns.
Mayor Trapp told BBN that the caucus meeting was held to show support to Trapp as he executed his duties as the Mayor of the Twin Towns.
“We have a mixed slate and in my humble opinion, I would say that things have not been going smooth. They have been disingenuous and they are witch-hunting. But I will stand firm as the Mayor,” Trapp said.
Trapp explained that the meeting was held by the Opposition UDP to express their support for him as he executed his duties as Mayor of the Twin Towns.
BBN understands that the 5 PUP councilors have set forth several demands to the Mayor and the Minister of Local Government has also attended at least 1 of their meetings.
