By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belmopan Bandits and Bermudian Landing’s Berlan play in Belize National Cricket Association (BNCA) semifinal on Sunday, May 9.

The Division 1 match that decides which of the two teams qualifies to the final starts at 11 am on neutral grounds in Lord’s Bank said the BNCA public relations officer Peter Young.

The winning team qualifies to the final while the losing team will finish in 3rd place.

This weekend signals the resumption of the tournament which was interrupted last year by the COVID-19 pandemic.

But the resumption of play actually happens on Saturday, May 8, with two Division 2 matches.

Brilliant play Rural Mix at Bermudian Landing and Suga Boys take on Western Eagles at Lord’s Bank.

Young said “all COVID-19 protocols will be in place” and “no fans, supporters or spectators are allowed to be at any of the games.”

However, Young said that fans can follow the progress of the matches on the BNCA website.

All players, support staff, and umpires are to wear masks, maintain social distance, and must wash hands, and sanitize regularly.

Players will also be temperature checked before games.

The BNCA also said that no food and drinks will be sold at the cricket grounds.
