Belize Athletics Association hold time trials on Saturday, May 8

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Athletics Association (BAA) is hosting its first official Time Trial on Saturday, May 8, 2021, starting at 9 am at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City.

A press release from the BAA said the events to be contested are: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m 5K, long jump, discus, and shot put.

The BAA said all athletes ages 16 and older can attend and participate in the events.

All COVID-19 protocols will be in place.

Registration starts at 8:30.

The trials start at 9 am and end by midday.

The BAA said it will provide water and fruits to the participants.

On April 20, the BAA encouraged its athletes to get vaccinated so they can participate in national and upcoming international events.

“The Belize Athletics Association strongly urges that all its senior athletes get vaccinated,” said a release from the Belize Athletics Association (BAA) today.

The COVID-19 restrictions caused the BAA to cancel two events it had planned for April: the U20 National Championships on April 24 at the Marion Jones and Technical Official Training at the same venue from April 26 to May 1.

Schedule of Events:

900 am: 5000m f/m

920 am: 200m f/m

940 am: long jump f & m

1010 am: 800m f/m

1030 am: 100m f/m

1045 am: shot put f & m

1120 am: discus f & m

1130 am: 1500m m/f

1150 am: 400 f/m.
