Miss Universe Belize Iris Salguero leaves the country today to participate in the upcoming Ms. Universe pageant

By Benjamin Flowers: Miss Universe Belize Iris Salguero is leaving the country today, bound for Florida, USA, in preparation for her appearance in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant set for Sunday, May 16.

The proud San Pedrana is one of 74 young women competing for the coveted title and crown. Yesterday, Salguero received a Belizean flag from the President of the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH), Sapna Budhrani, as a part of her last-minute preparations.

Salguero also takes with her a cultural costume inspired by the Baron Bliss Lighthouse, along with the hopes and pride of her nation.
