By Zoila Palma: Weather experts are monitoring a tropical disturbance off the west coast of Mexico, CNN reports.
The Pacific Hurricane season begins on May 15 and the system has developed 1 week before.
On Friday, the National Hurricane Center issued a 70% chance of development for this disturbance over the next 48 hours.
“Conditions are conducive for further development of this system over the next day or so, and a short-lived tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form tonight or on Sunday,” the hurricane center noted this morning.
If the system strengthens into a tropical storm, the first name on the list for the eastern Pacific is “Andres.”
For the past 6 years, the Atlantic Hurricane season has also recorded at least 1 named tropical system before the official start of the season.
The National hurricane preparedness week runs from May 9 to May 15, and the National Hurricane center will be sharing important information on hurricane preparedness.
