According to Worldometer, the global count for reported COVID-19 cases as of 10:00 a.m. today, Sunday, May 9, 2021, stood at 158,580,191.
Active cases were numbered over 19.1 million active cases, with 107,347 (0.6 percent) listed as serious/critical cases.
The total number of recoveries from the virus now stands at 136,063,026, which represents a recovery rate of 98 percent of all closed cases.
Notably, 2 percent of closed cases ( 3,300,625 ) have died from COVID-19.
The United States continues as the hardest-hit country in the world by the pandemic both by the number of cases recorded (over 33.4 million) and by the number of deaths (595,612) deaths.
India, the second-hardest-hit country by the number of cases, has recorded over 22.4 million cases and 243,574 deaths.
Brazil, the third-hardest-hit country by the number of cases still has the second-highest death toll. Brazil has recorded over 15.15 million cases and 421,484 deaths.
