Belize National Beach Soccer Team flies to Costa Rica on Friday for World Cup Qualifying Tournament

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize Men’s National Beach Soccer Team (BMNBST), which has been training at the FFB headquarters in Belmopan, travels to Costa Rica on Friday, May 14, for the Concacaf World Cup qualifiers.

The championship, which qualifies two teams to the World Cup, will be played in Alajuela, Costa Rica from May 17-23, 2021.

The BMNBST is comprised of 12 players; goalkeepers Rugerri Trejo and Brenton Garcia, defenders Jermain Jones, Carlos Bent, Sean Mas, Brandon Jones, and Sean Caliz, midfielders Devaney Tillett, Raymond Ramos, Devin Guzman, and Evan Mariano, and striker Marlon Meza.

Dennis ‘Den Den’ Serano is the head coach Dennis Serano. Ervin Casimiro is the assistant coach and Victor Orellano is the goalkeeper coach. The technical staff is completed by equipment manager Herbert Trapp, doctor David Pacheco, physiotherapist Aba Ben and technical director Philip Marin.

Eleven teams are participating in three groups. The top two teams qualify to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Belize is in Group A. We play against Mexico on Monday, May 17, and against Panama on Tuesday, May 18.

Group B is comprised of El Salvador, Bahamas, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic

Group C is made up of United States, Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Turks and Caicos Islands
