Belmopan Bandits (Police) beat Berlan 170-103, qualify to BNCA Division 1 final

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belmopan Bandits, which is in effect the Police Cricket Team, defeated Berlan of Bermudian Landing 170-103 at Lord’s Bank on Sunday in the 2020 Division One playoffs.

The Belize National Cricket Association (BNCA) was forced to suspend the Harrison Parks Cricket Championship midway through the playoffs last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bandits will now play Summer Fever in a best of three series to determine the National Division 1 Champions.

Berlan finished the competition in third place.

For the Police, Calbert Reynolds scored 45 runs, Walton Banner added 39, Jermaine Smith got 25 not out.

Pharon Muslar scored 24 runs while Lionel Russell added 14 for Berlan.

In Division 2, Top seeded Crooked Tree’s Brilliant routed 2nd seeded Isabella Bank’s Rural Mix 186 to 61 at Bermudian Landing on Saturday.

In the other playoff match on Saturday, 4th seeded Western Eagles (Rancho Dolores) edged 104-103 the 3rd seeded Sugar Boys of Carmelita with 4 wickets to spare.

Brilliant qualified directly to the BNCA Division 2 Final while Rural Mix will now play Western Eagles for another shot at the finals.

Suga Boys finished in fourth place.
