Minister of Public Utilities, Energy and Logistics tours offices in Caye Caulker and San Pedro

By Zoila Palma: Minister of Public Utilities, Energy and Logistics, Rodwell Ferguson and Marconi Leal Jr., CEO in the Ministry, concluded a 2-day familiarization tour on Caye Caulker and San Pedro Ambergris Caye on May 5-6, 2021.

On May 5, Minister Ferguson visited Belize Water Services Limited, Belize Telemedia Limited, and the post office on both islands.

Discussions were held with the officers in charge about plans to provide more efficient services to Belizeans and visitors alike.

Minister Rodwell also met with the traffic committees for Caye Caulker and San Pedro. The meetings focused on challenges such as parking, land and water taxis, and infrastructural developments.

The tour concluded with a visit to the Port Authority in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. The visit focused on future expansion of the port to better accommodate transportation for commuters and freight services.

Ferguson thanked the management of the offices visited for their ongoing work and committed to collaborating for enhancements and growth in the future.

Andre Perez, Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, and Mayor Wally Nunez of San Pedro Town accompanied Ferguson in San Pedro.

Meanwhile, in Caye Caulker, he was accompanied by Seleny Villanueva, chairperson of the Caye Caulker Village Council, and Reymundo Nunez, chairperson of the Caye Caulker traffic committee.

Also present on the tour were senior staff in the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy and Logistics.
