Prime Minister says “Together we must move forward”

Posted: Tuesday, May 11, 2021. 11:32 am CST.

By Zoila Palma: In his weekly recorded address, Prime Minister John Briceno encouraged Belizeans saying “together we must move forward”.

“We are already in May, and our fight for economic rebound and control of COVID-19 continues at a high-pitched pace,” PM Briceno said.

In addition, the Prime Minister said that the story of containment is not being told properly since the “daily struggles of our people are difficult and real.”

PM Briceno said that thousands are looking for work having lost 100% or 50% of their salaries, and some have been out of work for more than a year.

“For thirteen years, there was silence, because we had a government that was vindictive and bullying — now we have open government.  My friends together we must move forward, if not we will all crash,” Briceno added.

The Briceno administration was elected in November 2020 but has faced several challenges since entering office including taking cost-saving measures such as a 10% salary cut for teachers and public officers.
