U.S. Embassy Belize congratulates Dr. Carla Barnett on her appointment at CARICOM’s Sec-Gen

By Zoila Palma: Today, the United States Embassy in Belize joined in congratulating Dr. Carla Barnett on her appointment as the new Secretary General of CARICOM.

Dr. Barnett is the first woman and the first Belizean to assume the post.

Dr. Barnett officially assumes office in August, 2021.

Prime Minister John Briceno indicated that Dr. Barnett will take up the post of Secretary-General at a most critical time for the region.

Dr. Barnett has expressed her vision as one for a Caribbean Community where all citizens want to contribute to building a sense of “one Caribbean people with one common experience and destiny.”
