By Aaron Humes: The Government is outlining a series of measures that it hopes will be accepted by the trade unions on behalf of public officers.

It is offering a performance bonus relative to the country reaching its primary surplus targets in each of the next three years.

National Health Insurance (NHI) at the rate of 80-20 of insurance premiums covering medical and dental services is being established.

Teachers, through Belize Telemedia Limited, will receive a half-off discount on a 25 gigabyte data package for their use.

The banks and credit unions are being asked to continue to forbear outstanding loan payments through the end of the year. And the Development Finance Corporation and National Bank of Belize Limited will be establishing loan facilities for public officers.

Increments continue to remain applicable to pensions, and Government Ministers, Ministers of State and Chief Executive Officers will lose another 15 percent of their salaries and half their entertainment and telephone allowances.
