By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Minister of Agriculture, Fооd Ѕесurіtу, аnd Еntеrрrіѕе (MAFSE) Јоѕе Аbеlаrdо Маі presented seedlings to the Carmelita Government School at the beginning of his tour of Orange Walk.
Minister Mai and his staff also toured the Tilapia and School Garden facilities.
Representatives from two schools from Canada, which fund the tilapia farm project in Orange Walk schools were on hand for the tour.
The MAFSE delegation is comprised of international agricultural partners, technical staff, and operations staff of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fооd Ѕесurіtу, аnd Еntеrрrіѕе.
The principal of Carmelita Government School, Keith Augustine, said that they believe in diversifying education. Education is the key to success but we also need life skills.
The principal said the Carmelita Government School has a sustainable agriculture programme that includes a school garden and a tilapia pond.
