By Benjamin Flowers: Negotiations between the Government of Belize and Joint Union Negotiating Team concluded moments ago; however, union leaders left without divulging details to the media.
Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU) President Elena Smith and Association of Public Sector Senior Managers (APSSM) President Sharon Fraser, simply drove off following the meeting.
BBN was made to understand that the union leaders will not be making any statements on the record until they have spoken to their respective memberships.
Notably, Prime Minister John Briceño said that the government would be presenting its “best offer” to the unions today. That offer is made with the understanding that teachers and public officers will have their salaries cut by 10 percent and their increments frozen for the next three years.
